A big thank you to everyone who registered for or attended our inaugural Professional Development seminar. The seminar featured an insightful overview of workforce development in Extension from Rob Russell, Senior Program Director for Business and Community with the University of Missouri and co-chair of the ECOP Economic and Workforce Development Program Action Team.
We then heard from Kate Venturini Hardesty, who shared the successes of the Agriculture and Food Systems Fellows Program at the University of Rhode Island. Opportunities for getting involved with workforce development in Extension were discussed, as were opportunities to engage with the overall AgriProspects Initiative.
Dynamic Discussions: Certifications, Credentials, and Badges - Oh My! Extension's Role in Workforce Development
October 24th, 2024, 2 PM - 3 PM ET For Extension Foundation Members Only
The Cooperative Extension Service helps to bridge the educational gap between workers and employers by encouraging academic enrollment AND offering non-academic instruction. At times, this can be a challenging “in-between” space. This dynamic discussion explores:
Methods of instruction (academic classroom, Certifications vs. certifications, credentials, and badges);
Changing trends in workforce hiring to consider
How Extension can support workforce development and clientele through both academic and non-academic pathways.
Participants are encouraged to bring questions and considerations and be prepared to share!
